    Panda USB Vaccine-1.0.0.51

  • anand
  • I found Panda USB Vaccine, a free utility from Panda Security Research which helps prevent malware infections due to the autorun feature of Windows OS. After execution the user can choose two types of vaccinations, they are- Computer Vaccination or USB Drive Vaccination.

    Here is a screen shot:

    pandausbvaccine

USB Vaccine allows to vaccinate their PCs in order to disable autorun completely so that no program from any USB/CD/DVD drive can auto-execute. This is a helpful feature I think personally. Panda USB Vaccine can be used on individual USB drives to disable its autorun.inf file in order to prevent malware infections from spreading automatically. When applied on a USB drive, the vaccine permanently blocks an inoffensive AUTORUN.INF file, preventing it from being read, created, deleted or modified. Once applied it effectively disables Windows from automatically executing any malicious file that might be stored in that particular USB drive. The drive can otherwise be used normally and files copied to/from it, but they will be prevented from opening automatically. Panda USB Vaccine currently only works on FAT & FAT32 USB drives. Also it must be kept in mind that USB drives that have been vaccinated cannot be reversed except with a format.

Add “Email Me” link html/javascript for your webpage/blog

  • anand
  • Adding email me link to blog/site helps the visitors to contact the author. In this way author gets to know the need and query of the visitor better. This can help the webmaster to generate traffic. The more a author of blog/site become convergent to his visitors more is the probability of traffic to his webpage.

However, just putting the email address on the site like xyz@gmail.com invites the spammers to get your email id. No sooner do they get your ID than your inbox is flooded with unwanted mails.

So, why not think of a way which lets the good readers contact you and not the Spammers. Don't worry I have a way to keep the spammers away as a cow who keeps the flies away from her body using her tail....Sorry, I was just joking.

    So here is the way..

    Text Link:

Suppose, your email id is xyz@gmail.com ,here is the code you have to add

    <a href="mailto:xyz@gmail.com">Email me </a>

    Image link:

Suppose,if you want the visitors to email you by clicking on an image like the below one

First you have to upload your picture to some image hosting services. They will give a direct link for the uploaded image.Take a note of it.

    <a href="mailto:abc@gmail.com"><img src="http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/tt10/anand_chauhan/email.gif" alt="Email me" width="120" height="57" border="0" /></a>

How To Prevent Data To Be Transferred From PC To USB Drives?

  • June 25, 2009
  • anand
  • Sometimes we don't want our confidential data to be accessible by other persons. Those confidential data may contain some issues related to Security, integrity or something personal.

Sometimes it happens that a guy comes all of a sudden and transfer some data, may be confidential, in his/her USB drive. This entails unauthorized exposure. Its really painstaking matter. Oh!! its really bad. I have a great utility S/W to share with you all. It just prevents others to steal your data into their USB drives. It is called USB WriteProtector.

Here is a screen shot of the mentioned S/W.

    usb-writprotect

    Download USB WriteProtector from “HERE
and unzip it in a folder. Run the USB WriteProtector exe, select your language, click ‘USB write protection ON’ button for write protecting USB devices. You can disable it at any time by clicking on ‘USB write protection OFF’ button.

This can be performed manually by editing the Registry Items. I have described the process as under

    Navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control

Right click on ‘Control’ and create a new key and name it StorageDevicePolicies. On the right pane create a new DWORD value by right clicking and name it WriteProtect, insert  a value of “1″ and reboot  PC. Now no one can copy content onto USB devices. To re-enable this, change the DWORD value to 0. This is what the above tool does

Reinstall Windows XP Without the CD

  • anand
  • XP

    Step-by-step

Sometimes manufacturers do not include the Windows XP Operating System CD when you first buy your new computer. This how-to will explain how to reinstall the Windows XP operating system (with similar rules applying to its predecessors) without the need of the Windows XP CD.

    1. Understand that after a while your computer will start to slow down, freeze and sometimes not even shut down correctly. These symptoms are perfectly normal for operating systems that require a clean, fresh start. But sometimes manufacturers do not include a copy of the operating system on a disk to save you money when purchasing your computer and ultimately save them money too.

    2. Access the copy of the operating system on the hard drive. If manufacturers do not supply a Windows XP OS (Operating System) CD with the purchase of your new computer, they have most definitely stored a copy in your hard drive for later use. You can easily access this copy of the CD on your hard drive to completely reinstall or format partitions on your computer.

    3. Make sure you have your Windows product key/serial number. This could be located on the computer itself, or in the original packaging it was supplied with. If you do not have one, contact your manufacturer immediately for more support regarding the issue.

    4. Access path C:\WINDOWS in My Computer. Find a folder named "i386". If you can’t find this folder please see the Tips & Warning section. [Remember you can find this folder only if manufacturer has stored a copy of OS on your Computer]Open it.

This is the a part where a lot of people get confused. They realize that a copy of there Windows OS CD is here, but they look for the incorrect files. Most people will try to find a file named "Setup", "Install", or "Windows". The file you are looking for is called "winnt32.exe".

    5. Open this application and proceed with the instructions given. It will lead you through 5 simple phases that will wipe out your computer and reinstall the operating system.

    6. Get your product key ready to enter it. Make sure you agree with the terms that should be provided when using the winnt32.exe application.

    7. If you are using any operating system below Windows 2000 or Me, try looking for the winnt.exe application as the winnt32.exe application may not be availible for your version of the Windows OS in the I386 folder.

Winnt.exe uses a command driven interface, and therefore requires simple commands to use to reinstall windows or format partitions.

You can find these simple commands at Microsoft’s website :

    /windows2000serv/reskit/deploy/dghm_stp_codt.mspx?mfr=true]

    Tips & Warnings

    • Make sure you close any unnecessary software and applications that run in the system tray like Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Instant messenger and others, before using winnt32. This should speed up the whole process.

    • Make sure you have backed up all of your files before you clean out your computer.

    • Make sure you have all the required softwares on CD to reinstall the drivers that will be wiped out.

    • For some of the lower versions (operating systems) of the Windows franchise, you may wish to use the winnt.exe application instead which will use the Command Prompt application and require certain commands to operate. The Winnt32.exe application may not be available for those who use any OS below Windows 2000/Me.

    • If you are having trouble finding the folder, download WinACCESS, it searches your Windows folder for the Windows CD and executes it straight from your hardrive. This small software can also proove useful if the manafacturers installed it to a different location (which in many cases is unlikely).

    Warnings

    • All drivers will be wiped clean. That includes graphic cards, audio drivers, wireless drivers, etc. Make sure your manufacturers has supplied you with the correct softwares to reinstall the drivers that will be lost on reinstallation of the OS.

    • Do not forget to back up all of your data with a system restore tool, or else everything will be lost. This means all software and programs currently installed on the computer.

    • Remember Microsoft will not take any responsibility for anything that may go wrong and cause damage to your computer system.

    • If the I386 folder or Winnt32.exe/Winnt.exe application does not exist, or you cannot find it, use the Search feature to help you (Start>Search). If it does not wield any results, a copy of the CD may not have been stored on your hard drive. Contact your manufacturer for more support.

Using Disk Defrag on Windows XP

  • anand
  • Accessing Disk Defragmenter

    • Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Defragmenter
    • Start | Run | and type dfrg.msc in the Open line.

    Click OK
    • Start | Administrative Tools | Computer Management. Expand Storage and select Disk Defragmenter
The first two methods take you to a standalone window containing Disk Defragmenter. The last method opens Microsoft Management Console and displays Disk Defragmenter as one of the snap-in modules. In all cases, a window similar to the one below will be displayed.

    1

When Disk Defragmenter first opens you'll see a list of the hard drives displayed at the top of the screen. The Estimated Disk Usage Before Defragmentation and Estimated Disk Usage After Defragmentation will be blank until a drive is selected and the Analyze button is clicked. In the screen shot above, I've already analyzed the drives as evidenced by the Session Status showing as Analyzed and the Estimated Disk Usage Before Defragmentation area containing a graphical representation of the drive fragmentation.

    disk_defragmenter_03_02

After the Analyze button has been clicked and the process completes the window shown above (Fig. 02) opens with a brief recommendation of what action Disk Defragmenter thinks should be taken regarding the drive. It's important to note that this is just a recommendation based on the percentage of fragmented files to total files and doesn't prevent the drive from being defragmented if you feel it needs to be done and might improve system performance. If you want to go ahead and defragment without more information, click the Defragment button. If you're in agreement with their recommendation and don't want to defragment, click the Close button. Click the View Report button to view a more detailed drive analysis.

An Analysis Report contains quite a bit of additional information about the selected drive. The report shown above (Fig. 03) details the File Fragmentation status of drive New Volume (D:). The top pane provides Volume information, and as you can see there are 3,851 fragmented files. This may not seem like many fragmented files, but consider that this is only a 29GB drive, which is very small by today's standards, and that 97% of the total drive space is currently unused. Look at the Average Fragments Per File number of 1.04 and this tells you that approximately 4% of the files on the drive are in two or more pieces. My experience has been that when this number reaches 1.05 the message in the quick analysis window (Fig. 02) will recommend defragmenting the drive. The bottom pane, Most Fragmented Files, lists the files in descending order that are the most fragmented.

Click on Defragment button to Defrag the drive.

    7

You can see the status of Defragmentation in the status bar.

    5

Disk defragmentation is now complete, click on View Report button to view the Defragmentation Report.

    6

    7

In spite of the recommendation not to defragment this particular disk, I went ahead and clicked the Defragment button. The results of that choice are shown above (Fig. 04) in the Estimated Disk Usage After Defragmentation section. The graphical representation clearly shows that not only have the red lines depicting fragmented files been eliminated, many of the contiguous files indicated by the blue have been repositioned toward the beginning of the drive, reducing the amount of searching the drive heads have to do to locate a file. The drive in this example is not a system drive, nor does it have a paging file which would be indicated by the lime green Unmovable Files color.
After the defragmentation process completes, clicking the View Report button will bring up the Defragmentation Report (Fig. 05). It takes the exact same form as the Analysis Report (Fig. 03) but shows the post defragmentation results. The Total Files and Average File Size remain identical, but notice that Total Fragmented Files and Total Excess Fragments have been reduced to zero (0) and the Average Fragments Per File is now 1.00, indicating most or all of the files are contiguous. In addition, there are no files listed that did not defragment.

  • Introduction to Disk Defragmentation

    defrag-icon

As advanced as hard drives have become, one item they are not very good at is housekeeping, or maybe that should be drive keeping. When files are created, deleted, or modified it's almost a certainty they will become fragmented. Fragmented simply means the file is not stored in one place in its entirety, or what computer folks like to call a contiguous location. Different parts of the file are scattered across the hard disk in noncontiguous pieces. The more fragmented files there are on a drive, the more performance and re

liability suffer as the drive heads have to search for all the pieces in different locations. The Disk Defragmenter Utility is designed to reorganize noncontiguous files into contiguous files and optimize their placement on the hard drive for increased reliability and performance.

    Remove Advertising Banner From Orkut

  • anand
  • Orkut is an online community designed to help people connect, build relationships and create engaging communities around common interests. Since its inception in 2004, orkut has seen incredible growth around the world; we often hear users tell us how much orkut has come to mean in their lives

Now I have a thing to share with you all. Nowadays the members get irked by seeing the advertisement block at the place where they used to see their friend's list. This is quite irritating and leaves a bad impression. I too got irritated and searched to find a way out by hook or by crook. I, ultimately found the way and wanted to share with you all.

I discovered a add-on in mozilla that removes those ads. Just navigate to the following link to get that add-on

    Google Search

  • GOOGLE

Several of us use Google through out the day for simple stuff, but we've never quite grasped the power of this tool. Several of us use Google through out the day for simple stuff, but we've never quite grasped the power of this tool.
    1. .. Download and install the Google toolbar. Not only does it put the Google search box into your browser full-time, but it also blocks pop-up ads and fills in forms for you. For Windows at http://toolbar.google.com .. (Ad blocking, form-filling and Google's search box are already built into the Apple's Web browser, Safari.)

2... Phrase your question in the form of an answer. So instead of typing, "What is the average rainfall in the Amazon basin?", you might get better results by typing "The average rainfall in the Amazon basin is."

3... This is an old one, but very important: Put quotes around phrases that must be searched together. If you put quotes around "electric curtains," Google won't waste your time finding one set of Web pages containing the word "electric" and another set containing the word "curtains."

4... Similarly, put a hyphen right before any word you want screened out. If you're looking up dolphins, for example, you'll have to wade through a million Miami Dolphins pages unless you search for "dolphins -Miami."

5... Google is a global White Pages and Yellow Pages. Search for "phonebook: home depot norwalk, ct," Google instantly produces the address and phone number of the Norwalk Home Depot. This works with names ("phonebook:robert jones las vegas, NV") as well as businesses. Don't put any space after "phonebook." And in all of the following examples, don't type the quotes I'm showing you here.

6... Google is a package tracker. Type a FedEx or UPS package number (just the digits); when you click Search, Google offers a link to its tracking information.

7... Google is a calculator. Type in an equation ("32+2345*3-234=").

8... Google is a units-of-measurement converter. Type "teaspoons in a gallon," for example, or "centimeters in a foot."

9... Google is a stock ticker. Type in AAPL or MSFT, for example, to see a link to the current Apple or Microsoft stock price, graphs, financial news and so on.

10... Google is an atlas. Type in an area code, like 212, to see a Mapquest map of the area.

11... Google is Wal-Mart's computer. Type in a UPC bar code number, such as "036000250015," to see the description of the product you've just "scanned in." (Thanks to the Google Blog, http://google.blogspace.com, for this tip and the next couple.)

12... Google is an aviation buff. Type in a flight number like "United 22" for a link to a map of that flight's progress in the air. Or type in the tail number you see on an airplane for the full registration form for that plane.

13... Google is the Department of Motor Vehicles. Type in a VIN (vehicle identification number, which is etched onto a plate, usually on the door frame, of every car), like "JH4NA1157MT001832," to find out the car's year, make and model.

14... For hours of rainy-day entertainment, visit http://labs.google.com .. Here, you'll find links to new, half- finished Google experiments-like Google Voice, in which you call (650) 623-6706, speak the words you want to search for and then open your browser to view the results. Disclaimer: It wasn't working when I tried it. (Ditto a lot of these experiments.)

15... Poke around the "Services & Tools" link on the Google.com home page and you'll find some of the better-known lesser-known Google features, if that makes any sense.

For example, there's Froogle (product search), News, Groups (Internet discussion boards), Google Catalogs (hundreds of scanned- in product catalogs), Images (find graphics and photos from other people's Web sites), Blogger (publish your own online journal), Google language translation, Google Answers (pay a couple of bucks to have a professional researcher find the answers for you) and much more.

    Smart Card

  • anand
  • What is a Smart Card?

A smart card resembles a credit card in size and shape, but inside it is completely different. First of all, it has an inside -- a normal credit card is a simple piece of plastic. The inside of a smart card usually contains an embedded microprocessor. The microprocessor is under a gold contact pad on one side of the card. Think of the microprocessor as replacing the usual magnetic stripe on a credit card or debit card.

Smart cards are much more popular in Europe than in the United States. In Europe, the health insurance and banking industries use smart cards extensively. Every German citizen has a smart card for health insurance. Even though smart cards have been around in their modern form for at least a decade, they are just starting to take off in the United States.

Magnetic stripe technology remains in wide use in the United States. However, the data on the stripe can easily be read, written, deleted or changed with off-the-shelf equipment. Therefore, the stripe is really not the best place to store sensitive information. To protect the consumer, businesses in the U.S. have invested in extensive online mainframe-based computer networks for verification and processing. In Europe, such an infrastructure did not develop -- instead, the card carries the intelligence.

The microprocessor on the smart card is there for security. The host computer and card reader actually "talk" to the microprocessor. The microprocessor enforces access to the data on the card. If the host computer read and wrote the smart card's random access memory (RAM), it would be no different than a diskette.

Smarts cards may have up to 8 kilobytes of RAM, 346 kilobytes of ROM, 256 kilobytes of programmable ROM, and a 16-bit microprocessor. The smart card uses a serial interface and receives its power from external sources like a card reader. The processor uses a limited instruction set for applications such as cryptography.

The most common smart card applications are:

    • Credit cards

    • Electronic cash

    • Computer security systems

    • Wireless communication

    • Loyalty systems (like frequent flyer points)

    • Banking

    • Satellite TV

    • Government identification

Smart cards can be used with a smart-card reader attachment to a personal computer to authenticate a user. Web browsers also can use smart card technology to supplement Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for improved security of Internet transactions. Visa's Smart Card FAQ shows how online purchases work using a smart card and a PC equipped with a smart-card reader. Smart-card readers can also be found in mobile phones and vending machines.

Tweak blogger title tags for SEO

  • June 16, 2009
  • anand
  • Few days ago I was wondering that how can I improve the rank of my blog in a easy step. I then thought that only way must be that we get optimized in search engines. Well, I have a bit idea about SEO technique. Now, I should unveil a chunk of a SEO technique.

There are two parts of SEO. "off page " and "on page" o
    ptimization.

"Off page" optimization stands on link building
procedure. It is a sort of democratic way of popularizing your blog. It allows other site/blog include your site's link. It encourages traffic.

    "On page" optimization deals with
technique by which we understand how well we can optimize our blog for search engines. This includes keywords in your post titles, title tags, using header tags (h1, h2) and other tactics.

I have a small chunk of technique which can make your blog ranking improve.

It is well known fact that the topic which is searched appears on the first half of the web page title bar. This should be the real way or the optimized way. Unfortunately blogger don't have optimization technique already implemented. Below lies a perfect example of what I am trying to illustrate:

To do this I have a illustration( For Blogger) :

    Steps:

    Step 1: Login to blogger

    Step 2: Click "layout"

    Step 3: click "Edit Html"

    Step 4: Find The code

    <title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>

Step 5: Replace the above Code by the Following code

    <b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "index"'>

    <title><data:blog.title/></title>

    <b:else/>

    <title><data:blog.pageName/> | <data:blog.title/></title>

    </b:if>

Step5: Save the template and view the blog, you will have a optimized blog

N.B: Do all the changings after taking backup of the previously uploaded template
